Tis The Season - of Coyote Hunting

Predator Hunting in Southern Utah
Every winter, when the majority of the fall hunting seasons have ended, many people begin their a new hunting season. The itch to get out into the hills, especially during the time of year when most people are indoors because of the dismal weather, is very overwhelming for most. Coyote hunting is a very popular sport for many people throughout the United States, and here in Utah, coyote hunting is extremely popular.

Camouflage and hiking are key to bagging some Coyotes.

The crew at Outlaw Action Sports spends a great deal of time out in the hills during these upcoming winter months, taking down these predators that cause many problems for the local livestock owners. Across the country many landowners and folks that own livestock are hunting these elusive animals, trying to take care of the problems that arise from having these dogs running among us. Along with the livestock threat that these predators pose, the wild game in all areas is at risk. In our own state of Utah, a bounty has been increased for each coyote that is killed and turned in with ears and the lower jaw (for DNA studies).

In Southern Utah, the coyotes have had an extensive amount of hunting and calling pressure. A few years ago, getting a coyote to respond to a call was seemingly easy. Today, after so many people have been hunting them, they are much more elusive and less responsive to calls. It is not a lack of predators that is the problem, but it is the lack of quality shooting and calling being done. So many dogs have heard the fox pros  and run of the mill hand calls, making calling difficult. The guys at Outlaw have found the new "ultimate calls," Merlin Game Calls.

The Detail on Merlin Game Calls, so amazing
Merlin Game Calls are phenomenal! The owner, Marcus, has hand crafted each one of his calls from wood and antlers. So many of the dogs in this area, and the U.S. have not heard the sounds that come from his calls, and he is almost always successful. Outlaw Actions Sports owners, Brett and Patrick, will be using these calls from here on out, helping gain profits from bounty's and helping to lower the predator population in the area!
